Born: 1943.
Mariann Preisler is educated as a cutter and had a very large production of crafts behind her (among other things as a long standing member of the collective shop ‘Elverhøj’) when she gradually got more and more interested to unfold as a picture maker and sculptor.
Her basic elements for making pictures are mostly new and old family photos, which are then manipulated in Photoshop and afterwards are given an artistic look through the use of colours, wax, lacquer etc.
Her sculptures and figurines could either be light, bended wires or put together from small pieces of scrap wood, or they can be more complex ‘guardian angels’ created from pieces of wood washed up on the beach, or from naturally decomposed wood, which are then coloured and shaped to create figurines that are both heavenly and earthly and above all timeless.
Marianne has nothing against that her works are maturing and fading. Large, imperishable sculptures are not her style.
