The artistic language of Kristina Norvilaitė and Eglė Einikytė-Narkevičienė is relational as they are both interested in dialogue, despite different techniques of their art. Both artists have a dynamic approach to their respective techniques as they work with unexpected shapes, motives, elements, and compositions.
Eglé Einikyté-Narviciene: “Universal problems of humanity matter for me more than those of a concrete person. Therefore, I choose abstract forms, full of diverse metaphors and symbols. These people, crouched, broken by their lives, chained by their own inner conflicts, are similar to each of us in one way or another: our natural moral disposition to reflect on our own experience and close ourselves in the shell of fear and anxiety. Such abstract forms evoke our imagination deeper and make us think, trying to find answers to diverse existential questions.” writes Eglé in her artist statement.
Kristina Norvilaite: “In my art, I use many different techniques: linocut, painting, drypoint, monotyping. However my main passion is linocut graphic technique. Linocut makes me feel as if I am doing acrobatics, here I feel especially free, always searching for new, unusual ways to apply the technique, new printing methods and creative possibilities.” explains Kristina about her work.
