“I have followed the artist for more than twenty years. What an overwhelming development from experiments with readymades and other works attached to trivial reality and then this actual exploration of new languages and unknown land behind the everyday horizon.

One of the last oil paintings of his I have seen is called “With a magic aura”; the painting is like a blasted starry sky, horns, shops, factory chimneys, crosses, arms and other elements from reality seem to have been cast around after a celestial explosion. But within all this disruption and diversity, the picture contains a peculiar wholeness. This unison of violent drama and harmony characterizes the best of Carsten Nash’s paintings….

As an artist and a human being Carsten Nash has always been inquisitive and quick to adapt to new challenges. Since the seventies his artistic expression has changed its staging. Nevertheless the content has always expressed the warm and affirmative feelings so typical for Carsten Nash the artist. In a long line of exhibitions in Sweden, Denmark, Island and Finland his artistic intentions have always mirrored both play and severity.
He has the very rare quality to be able to fit his artistic expression into present surroundings, quietly, but still colourful and humorous.
